On Monday the youngest children in the school, and me, had a go at making a gallette des rois. We followed the recipe carefully then waited impatiently while it baked. We were all very pleased when it came out of the oven looking and smelling delicious. As we do not celebrate the fete des rois in Scotland finding a feve for the gallette would be very difficult so instead we put a bright purple sweet. Fiona found the sweet in her slice and she was crowned queen. She chose Brodie as her king. They both wore their crowns proudly all day.

Very nice activity to share the traditions of our French friends. Was it part of your French lessons?

You did it the right way, adding to the dough a broad bean as a lucky charm ๐Ÿ™‚ That was how the King’s cake was made in the old days.
