Inaugurating our new painted beehives.

23 May

P1070457

Today our beekeeper came to add 2 new beehives in the school patio.  Having a look at the Slovenian hive art helped us to find ideas to decorate them  😉

A group of year 8 students  set to work and their motifs feature spring but also  a real concern about the dangers facing bees, their decline and possible extinction with a tremendous impact on the environment : no more crops, fodder ( hay, straw) to feed cattle. Without bees, no more fruit, no more flowers … no more … out of 100 crops, 70 will disappear 😦

We are young  but quite determined to do our best to host  and help our friendly bees and other insects ( next year we have a new project about protecting local insects such as cockhafers . We are going to build a friendly environment to host them) .  No more pesticides , less grass cutting , preservation of their habitat such as stumps … , rocks … soil …

SUPER BEE WILL HELP!

Great job, team France! Wonderful painted beehives! 🙂 Fantastic project for next year… I hope you’ll keep us informed. 🙂 It’s good to see someone takes cares of the bees, they are so important for human life too.
In case you need some ideas for a nice garden environment to keep your bees happy:

How good to do something for bees, they deserve so much respect for what they do and give us! I see the two students have protections but the beekeeper doesn’t … they must feel he’s a real friend 😉 !

Great idea to paint our beehives like in Slovenia and Super Bee is going to protect our bees in our school. 2 of our beehives died this winter because of the cold and damp weather 😦

Has Superbee been on a visit to Brussels to talk to politicians? Finally the European Commission has banned the use of three pesticides to protect bees. http://europa.eu/rapid/press-release_IP-13-457_en.htm
Good to see governments and people, in this case your school, taking action 🙂

@ Mrs U, Superbee petitioned and had her friends do the same. Germany did a good job in opposing pesticide lobbies recently: its vote against pesticides was determinant in Brussels 😉 Thank you guys!
